Professor Julie Glass
Professor Kathy Hann
The directors of MEGA Camp are Professor Julie Glass and Professor
Kathy Hann from the Mathematics
and Computer Science Department at Cal State Hayward. Dr. Glass received her
Ph.D. from UC Santa Cruz and Dr. Hann received
her Ph.D. from UC Davis. MEGA Camp was developed to improve recruitment and retention of girls in Science, Engineering,
and Math Education. They hope to increase the awareness of career options in
Mathematics, Science and other technological fields. They also want to show
these girls that Mathematics can be fun and challenging without being
intimidating. Within the program, the students will learn to improve their work-
ethic, attitudes, self-image and written and verbal communication skills. Other
programs that Professor Glass is involved with is PAD (Pre-Collegiate Academic
Development Program), CAPP and
MATH on TV. Professor Hann is involved with PAD,
M.A.T.H.
(Mathematics and Teaching at Hayward) and student research in Geometry.
