Alfred Sisley, the son of English parents, was born in Paris; his parents were well-to-do, enabling him to follow his vocation
and become a painter. His works, light-toned landscapes in spirit of Corot, were first exhibited in the Salon of 1866, then
again in 1868 and 1870. In 1880 he settled in Veneux-Nadon, where the bright landscape afforded him the opprtunity to
unfold all his lyrical sensitivity; virtually unknown. He died in Moret-sur-Loing in 1899.
